September has rolled around, and for me that means one thing: the start of my final year at SCAD and the genesis of my Senior Project.
I spent a lot of time over summer deliberating what to make. I thought for sure that I'd make a game in VR, but after more consideration I ended up deciding on a more accessible project.
Announcing: Project Cardinal
The game, currently codenamed "Project Cardinal", is based on an idea I had a few years ago that I never had the chance to develop. In essence, it combines the light-cycle arena game from Tron with the colour mechanics of Ikaruga, where you are impervious to obstacles that are the same colour as yourself.
My core gameplay loop, then, will be that of survival and space management. As my incredible Photoshop skills show, it'll use the aesthetics from Tron - think lots and lots of neon. While gameplay specifics are far from cemented, I think this should at least give an idea of the experience I'm going for - a frantic, yet calculated, multiplayer deathmatch.
